This week’s blog is dedicated to Allison Ebner who recently graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a BA in English Literature, Magna Cum Laude.
HOW COULD I HAVE EVER DONE THIS WITHOUT ALLISON???
When Tom Murro contacted me to do a weekly blog for his site, my first thoughts were “Oh my God! I don’t know if I can be a writer!” There’s not any one thing I’m proficient at, except ice skating, but I do try my best at everything! But with writing, I especially needed some help. So Tom recommended a couple of his interns.
But how could I choose? How did I pick Allison? I asked Tom about their personalities and when he described Allison, he told me she was more like me, always upbeat. That’s all he needed to say! Immediately I told him “I want her!” and it has turned out to be a great match!
Each week, between Allison’s studies and activities, she would contact me, without fail, and say “Okay, we have to do the blog!” Not only is she responsible, but she’s wonderful at helping me put my thoughts into words, always on the money and never missing a beat. The work is always sharp, incredibly fine tuned and she still manages to keep it sounding as though I put it together all by myself!
We’ll call one another, pull topics apart, discuss the events and drama that unfold in my life that week and determine what’s fit to blog! It never takes too long to get things rolling. We just work that well together. In fact, sometimes it seems too well! We’ll end up chatting about our lives – my two new kittens, Mickey and Minnie, or her senior year events at school – for just as long as we talk about the blog! With my son going through his senior year as well, there was never any shortage of stories on both sides.
Whoever employs Allison has gained a great writer, someone conscientious and responsible, and I do know where she’s going: PopCultureMadness.com. She’s back from college and she’s going straight to work with them!
I can’t say I’ll miss her, though, because she isn’t leaving me. At least not until she can’t take anymore of me!! And I hope that day doesn’t come because I don’t know what I’ll do! But seriously, I love Allison. She’s a great writer and a great girl. She’ll go far. I know it’s going to happen.
What a help she’s been to me. Thank God for Allison, that’s all I can say!
