Hollywood Nuptials: Newlyweds and Knot-Breakers

We could hear the wedding bells, sounds of unforseen splits, and see the picturesque proposals coming from an altar-filled Hollywood recently. From the devestating divorce announced by Latin lovers J.Lo and Marc Anthony, to the long-awaited union of television personalities Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, to the tender motion of matrimony Lewis Hamilton presented Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, matrimony met fame in the hearts of stars this weekend.

Kim K look-a-like and pop star Nicole Scherzinger, 33,coined the exciting engagement story of the hour; after four years of dating, the Hawaiian hottie will wed her twenty six year-old British Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton. Scherzinger’s dad, Alfonso Valiente, sung the praises of his soon to be son-in-law like a proud papa, “Yes, they are engaged. My future son-in-law is a really nice guy, really down-to-earth. My family all like him. The good spirit is there.” It’ll only be a matter of time before Nicole starts dishing the wedding deets.

While the new-found fiances above are only beginning their journey down the isle, long time couple Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey finally fixed their lips to say”I do.” The heavenly 30 year-old TV host and her has-been hubby,37, got hitched in a secret ceremony on Friday. After over five years of going steady, the pair joined in holy and paradaisical matrimony on a tropical island in front of thirty five close friends and family members. Minnillo explained what the exchange of wedding bands means for the the newlyweds’ future, “For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that’s to start a family together.” Nick, on the other hand, unveiled the unspoken component of the surprise union, “Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket. We told them they were going away and the attire was ‘island chic.’ It was all very vague.” Having managed to make their way to the alter, the couple’s next feat is evidently to make their way off the D list  by televising their wedding on a TLC special called Nick & Vanessa’s Dream Wedding premiering on July 30 from 9-11pm ET/PT.

Last but certainly not least in show biz’s string of new conjugal contracts this weekend is J.Lo and Marc Anthony’s choice to call it quits. The break-up really came out of left field for a stunned public, since fans percieved the seven year marriage to be nearly flawless. Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42 released a joint declaration of their divorce on Friday,”We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.” We only hope the spousal severance is as civil as the musical duo promises, if for nothing other than the sake of innocent 3 year-old twins, Max and Emme.

There’s no doubt that love links and marital ties struck stardom’s psyche this weekend, but while marriage was the talk of the town for some love birds, the only town others others planned to saunter to was splitsville.
