18-year-old singer and Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove has had to postpone her “Dancing Crazy Tour” until further notice due to a “life-threatening” crash on Thursday that resulted in a cast for her fractured right ankle and broken right baby toe.
Miranda was on her tour bus, along with her mom and three others, when the crash occurred in route from Ohio to Kansas for a concert that would have happened tonight.
When the crash occurred, it was so dark that by the time it the driver saw the already overturned tractor-trailer blocking the highway, it was too late. Instead of swerving and risking overturning the bus, he hit the brakes and faced the part of the tractor-trailer that had been blocking the highway straight on. It was a decision that may have saved Miranda’s life.
Those asleep in the back of the bus were not injured, but Miranda absorbed the impact because she was asleep on a couch closer to the front of the bus. Miranda, though, is feeling lucky to be alive and thanking her driver for saving her life with his quick thinking.
Others did sustain injuries but Miranda’s rep says that “everyone will be fine.” Her mom is said to have been banged up in the crash and the driver was in the worst condition as TMZ reports he had to be airlifted from the crash scene to a nearby hospital where he received 45 stitches.
The official statement from Miranda’s rep is:
“Miranda Cosgrove’s tour bus was involved in an accident early this morning in Illinois on I-70, just outside of Vandalia. There were 5 passengers on the bus, and Miranda suffered a broken ankle. At this time, we are told everyone will be fine.”
Her rep also adds that Miranda will let fans know when she can resume touring, concluding, “Miranda thanks everyone for their understanding and support.” Get well soon, Miranda and company!
