Tom Hanks Refunds Dissatisfied Fans

Categories: Celebrity

It’s undeniable that Tom Hanks is a great actor, but that doesn’t mean everyone will always like all of his films or that he may not put out a dud once or twice in his career. When Hanks learned that a couple disliked his latest movie, Larry Crowne, he actually refunded them!

Larry Crowne, a film that Hanks wrote, directed and starred in alongside Julia Roberts and cited as a “personal mission,” is about a man in his 50’s who decides to go back to school after losing his job. The picture received mixed reviews with a lackluster rating of 35% on RottenTomatoes.com.

Hanks discovered these statistics were real as he was filling up his car at a gas station near his home in Pacific Palisades, California, when he was approached by a man and his wife who had recently seen the film. When Hanks asked him about their thoughts, the man said “it wasn’t that good,” with the woman trying to ease the potentially awkward situation explaining they had come to expect more from their favorite star.

Hanks response was stunning and ingenious; “Gee, I’m sorry you were disappointed, how about letting me refund your ticket money?” He then proceeded to hand over $25, which the man willingly took. As they left Hanks to finish filling up his tank, they exchanged goodbyes with Hanks adding “We’ll do a better job next time.”

We believe you, Hanks!
