When Piers Morgan announced he would not be returning for the seventh season of America’s Got Talent, no one knew who would replace him or what would become of the series. But, NBC has found a personality just as honest (and, at times, abrasive) to join remaining judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. The newest judge at the AGT table is none other than Howard Stern.
Let it sit with you for a moment. You’ll likely run through a myriad of feelings and thoughts on the matter. While the reaction has general been positive, there are certainly those who are outraged at the decision. The Parents Television Council (PTC), a powerful parents organization, is speaking out and saying Stern is much too inappropriate for primetime TV and argues the decision is just a desperate move on NBC’s part.
But others have reacted just as strongly in support of Stern and against the feelings of the PTC. Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell and even actor Zach Braff have voiced their approval of the decision, all finding it an exciting and smart addition to the show.
NBC is so excited about the addition that they have even agreed to move the show to NYC so that Howard can continue to work on his radio show, which was of the utmost importance in Stern’s decision.
Stern made the announcement himself on his radio show, where he explained how much he really wanted to be a judge. He, Osbourne and Mandel will begin taping the seventh season in February.
What do you think? Will Stern make for a great judge of talent? …He seems to think so.
