Miley Cyrus, the nineteen year-old former Disney star, has decided to offer some advice to parents all over the world.
She wants parents to be more open with their children about sex.
The star recently was quoted on The Conversation as stating sex is a really “cool and beautiful” thing between two people who love each other. Cyrus notes how a lot of girls seem to have self-worth based on how many guys they have sex with. Cyrus then went on, stating “it makes me sad” when she sees young girls hooking up with guys just to try and attain some self-worth.
Miley explained that parents need to step in and explain sex to their children. Cyrus went on later to state that it is a parents’ job to explain sex to their children, and claims those who don’t are ignorant. Miley said, “…it’s ignorant not to talk to your kids about it or [not] make it seem as magical or cool as it actually is”.
Cyrus, who has been in a committed relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth for three years, might have a point. If kids don’t talk about sex with their parents they could end up confused and making poor decisions, such as sliding down a pole at an award show.
