On June 19, Johnny Depp’s publicist released a statement confirming what had been rumored for months: The Dark Shadows star, 49, and his partner of 14 years, French singer Vanessa Paradis, 39, had ended their relationship.
As Depp’s relationship crumbled, the lonely former lothario — who romanced Winona Ryder and Kate Moss in the 1990s — turned to women for comfort. Published reports have linked him to Shadows costar Eva Green, 32, and his publicist, Robin Baum, 48. And sources confirm to Us he wooed both an extra on 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and his Rum Diary costar Amber Heard, 26.
Says a source of Heard, who has been hooking up with Depp for months, “He’s smitten by her.” It wasn’t until they began promoting the 2011 movie that a romance sparked. “They started sleeping together during the press tour,” says a Heard source. Though Depp was technically split from Paradis during those years, she didn’t appreciate his dalliances. One source who overheard a fight between the pair at a hotel in 2010 says Paradis screamed at him about another woman. “She was shouting at him,” says the witness. “She said, ‘If I see her, I’ll drown her!’
However, Depp and Paradis are determined to remain amicable for their children. And though he is spending time with Heard, Depp is mourning the collapse of his family. “It’s heartbreaking for all of them,” says the Depp pal. “Their loved ones are just trying to be there for them at this horrible time.”
