Is Roseanne Barr the Next Celebrity to Be Roasted?

Categories: Celebrity

Roseanne Barr is joining the ranks of Charlie Sheen, David Hasselhoff, Donald Trump, Bob Saget and other well know celebrities who can handle the honor – and humility – of the Roast.  The 90s sitcom star and comedian is the first woman to be roasted since Joan Rivers in 2009. Comedy Central announced today that her roast will take place on August 4th, and premiere the next weekend. The panel of comedians, however, has yet to be determined.

“Although Roseanne appears to be a demure, soft spoken woman eternally committed to the status quo, we believe under the surface is an explosive, trail-blazing cultural revolution. We are honored to Roast her,” said Kent Alterman, Head of Original Programming and Production at Comedy Central.

“Celebrating Roseanne’s unprecedented achievements in comedy and television will surely inspire us to make this roast more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through.”

When asked about the Roast, Roseanne remarked, “All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of… I mean, I’ve never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life!”

The roast will premiere on Sunday, August 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.

Oh, and she’s still running for president of the United States. Chances are, that’ll come up a few times!
