Is the “Jersey Shore” cast finally growing up? It sure seems that way.
After an 11-month hiatus, the longest production MTV hit has taken between seasons, the crazy cast reunited in Seaside Heights to film another ridiculous set of episodes. Even though the gang is under the same roof again, fans should expect some major changes this year.
According to MTV’s executive VP of programming and head of production, Chris Linn, a pregnant “Snooki” has decided to move out of the house. Her partners in crime, Deena Cortese and Jenni “JWoww” Farley are in serious, monagamous relationships. Plus, the “Situation” has sworn off drinking!
Despite these major differences, Linn says he is confident that the show will continue to entertain audiences.
“The show has surprised us in the past and we’re super excited about this season,” Linn says. “I wouldn’t make any assumptions about what the season will do.”
While there will be less on screen partying and a Snookie-less house, “Jersey Shore” executives say they have been nothing but supportive of all of the changes going on in the cast members’ lives and that the show will be “a different kind of entertaining” this year. Producers say life on the set is just as funny as ever, with plenty of jokes about Mike’s sobriety and Snooki’s pregnancy being tossed around.
Linn says Snooki has been the unlikely leader of the sixth season as the cast enters another phase of adulthood and is becoming more mature.
“I don’t think anybody expected Snooki to be the one to blaze that trail, but she is, and it’s going to change the dynamic with everybody else,” Linn says. “She’s just as funny, if not funnier, than she’s ever been.”
