Celebrities have flocked to the game of poker in recent years, and no games draws out the stars more so than the World Series of Poker 2012. The stars of the music world are among those you will find playing in the largest event on the planet, all looking to take home Millions in prize money and the ever elusive WSOP gold bracelet. Let’s take a look at a few music artists who will be at WSOP 2012.
Rapper Nelly has been testing out his luck at the tables over the last couple of years at the WSOP. The superstar performer caught the poker bug thanks to charity tournaments, and after he discovered he had a bit of game, he thought he would try his luck with the big boys. While he hasn’t hit big yet, he has made it past day one, something many pros fail to do at times.
Scott Ian of the heavy metal band Antrhax has been playing the World Series of Poker Main Event for years. Ian started playing much like Nelly did in charity tournaments, but some pros took notice of his skills and started training him in the game. Soon, Ian was holding his own with the poker elite and even signed a deal with UB until last year. Now Ian is a bit more focused on his music, currently touring with Anthrax promoting their Worship Music album. However, you can be certain he will take his shot at the Main Event braclet.
Kool Shen is one of France founding fathers for rap and has really made a name for himself in the poker world. Recently, he took down the World Poker Tour’s Cannes event for over 100,000 Euro and looks ready to make a run at the Main Event. Last year, he cashed in 2 WSOP events and finished 20th in one event. Now approaching $1 Million in career earnings, Kool Shen could be ready to take down the richest prize in poker.
The great thing about the WSOP is that anyone can enter and take their shot at the largest prize in the game. The above music artists will join tens of thousands this summer as they try and take their journey into poker immortality.
