Hollyscoop Exclusive: When the queen of pop becomes the judge, can anyone really measure up?
“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe is speaking out about his opinion on Mariah Carey joining the FOX family. And, while he is certain that she is more than qualified, he is worried that her massive resume and iconic status might cast too big a shadow for the up and coming contestants.
Hollyscoop caught up with Nigel at the red carpet of Wednesday night’s “So You Think You Can Dance” finale.
In the exclusive interview, he shared his concern about Mariah raising the bar too high, too soon…
“Mariah Carey is possibly one of the greatest singers of all time,” he said. “She’s now going to have to judge other people, I hope she doesn’t raise the bar to her level, because we’ll never get anyone good.”

Why doesn’t this blog ask Nigel why he told contestants who aren’t even in front of judges yet who the four judges are. he told contestants who are going in front of producers today that if they make it through they will go in front of Mariah, Nicki, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson on Sunday or Monday. What kind of producer is he to not even make an official announcement to the millions of fans of those who didn’t make final cut as judges and tell people who aren’t even on the show yet. Not only that Nigel and other producers made all the possible judges agree to not disclose whether they will or will not be a judge until official announcement is made. This panel is going to be a mess with those four and if they hope to get higher ratings don’t think it will happen. Put this on your blog.
